Eligible for ACVS MOC
Working Groups
Sign up to join one of the six working groups in 2025. ACVS working groups provide a collaborative platform for veterinary professionals to converse on pivotal topics and issues. Join like-minded veterinary professionals to collaboratively address clinical problems and catalyze impactful discussion.
Currently, ACVS working groups are offered as part of Surgery Summit registration to ACVS and ECVS Diplomates and surgery residents.
Group Sizes
Working groups are limited to 20 participants.
How to Join
Participation in the working groups will be on a first come, first served basis for ACVS and ECVS Diplomates and surgery residents. Working groups will be available as an add-on item during the registration process, and there is no additional registration fee.

Large Animal
Group Chair: Megan McCracken, DVM, MS, DACVS (Large Animal)
Join a discussion group strategizing ways to provide high-quality 24-hour emergency care to our equine patients while maintaining income and quality of life. Discussion points include potential roles for large animal critical care specialists, developing a full-time emergency service, collaborating with general practitioners, locum surgeons, and other unique strategies. Come discuss what is working in your practice, the challenges faced by your practice and the industry, and ideas for a sustainable future.
This working group is eligible for one hour of continuing education credit.
Small Animal

This working group is eligible for one hour of continuing education credit.
Group Chair: Elizabeth Swanson, DVM, MS, DACVS (Small Animal)
This working group will provide an interdisciplinary climate in which to explore opportunities to advance the field of surgery for exotic species, including avians, reptiles, fish/amphibians, and small mammals. As a first step, this group will investigate the barriers that hold surgeons back from performing surgery on exotic species and explore ways to build interest and comfort in working with these animals.
