ACVS and AO VET North America offer AO PEER Level 2
ACVS is partnering with AO VET North America to offer the AO Program for Education and Excellence in Research (AO PEER) Level 2 Course on Publication Writing at the 2025 ACVS Surgery Summit in Seattle, WA.
Course Description

This Level 2 course is designed to introduce participants to the principles, workflow, and challenges of preparing a scientific manuscript for publication. The experienced faculty offer insights and guidance into how best to define content, illustrate, write, and edit a scientific article. Participants learn about the review process that is undertaken by journals, how to avoid common pitfalls in scientific writing, and how to use reviewers' comments to improve their manuscript.
Prior to meeting at the Surgery Summit, participants will complete a self-directed online course with eight consecutive modules beginning September 22, 2025. An interactive forum will be available during the advance course work to provide participants an opportunity to exchange thoughts and challenges.
Following the completion of the online self-paced portion of the course, participants will gather in person on Wednesday, October 22, at the ACVS Surgery Summit.
The ideal candidates for this program are ACVS residents; however, the program is also open to ACVS Diplomates. This course is especially beneficial for residents who are planning or just starting to write up research articles for publication. Prior completion of the Level 1 AO PEER course is recommended, but consideration will be given to applicants who are actively enrolled in the online Level 1 course ahead of the ACVS Surgery Summit, or who can document prior completion of a structured Research Methods/Introduction to Research class.
