This lecture provides a detailed discussion of perioperative sedation and multi-modal pain management techniques, specific to common orthopedic surgery in small animal veterinary patients. Topics will include preoperative management of aggressive dogs, the pain pathway and benefits of multi-modal techniques, specific anesthetic drug protocols and loco-regional techniques for specific procedures. We will also discuss management considerations for patients with orthopedic injuries following trauma.
