This lecture focuses on ways to involve students and leverage specialty surgery caseloads in service of training veterinary students for a variety of careers. Key elements of successful clinical learning include clear expectations for student involvement that are shared by the entire clinical team, fostering a work environment that enables open communication and collaboration, and employing feedback and discussion strategies in ways that support student learning. This lecture also discusses key elements of Spectrum of Care and professional identity formation and their relevance to clinical training.
