This lecture is aimed at providing the attendee with a broader context with which to consider nodal management strategies. This talk will cover aspects of development and implementation of sentinel lymph node techniques in people, with reference to corresponding applications in small animals. Implications of the progression seen in humans will be discussed, as well as future directions for nodal management in small animals.
