This seminar discusses advances in the diagnosis and treatment of septic arthritis in horses. Specifically, new synovial fluid culture techniques and biomarkers are covered, as well as new imaging techniques for detection of infection. For the treatment of septic arthritis, advances in surgical techniques and regional limb perfusion techniques are covered, as well as novel anti-biofilm therapeutics, including platelet lysate and stem cells with a focus on antimicrobial stewardship.
