Urinary obstruction in companion animals can result in significant morbidity and mortality if left untreated. This seminar provides an update on traditional and novel techniques that have been developed to treat patients presenting for obstruction of the upper urinary tract.

Learning Objectives:

  • describe techniques available in the management of kidney stones
  • understand tradition and novel surgical techniques that rely on the natural tissues for the treatment of ureteral obstruction in companion animals
  • list complications associated with both traditional and novel techniques used to treat ureteral obstructions in companion animals
