Equine Field Surgery and Trauma: When the Horse Can’t Leave the Farm

This seminar focuses on equine primary care procedures that can be performed on the farm. Discussion includes surgical techniques of the foot and distal limb, stabilization of traumatic injuries, and post-operative care including rehabilitation techniques. The seminar also includes a case-based interactive panel discussion.

Learning Objectives:

  • Upon completion, participant will be able to describe pre-operative considerations for common procedures that can be performed in the field.
  • Upon completion, participant will be able to define potential complications both intra-operatively and post-operatively related to these field procedures.
  • Upon completion, participant will be able to describe rehabilitation methods that can be used post-operatively.
