Subcutaneous Ureteral Bypass: Indications and Placement Techniques (WAITLIST)

This four-hour lab includes lectures on ureteral obstruction diagnosis, medical management, surgical preparation, SUB placement techniques, postoperative care and management, and troubleshooting complications. This lab is useful as an introduction to those not familiar with SUB placement, as well as those that would like more information on complicated case management. Lectures will be followed by hands-on labs with teaching models.

Learning Objectives:
• Understand the pathophysiology of ureteral obstructions
• Understand the difference between diagnostic modalities used to confirm ureteral obstructions
• Understand the medical management currently recommended prior to surgery/intervention
• Understand the outcomes reported with medical management alone, surgical management, stent placement, and SUB placement
• Understand the nuances of placing a SUB
• How to monitor these patients over the long-term and manage complications if they arise
