Lecture Title: Short- and Long-Term Outcomes of the Kyon Medial Elbow Replacement System in Dogs
Description: This lecture reviews the surgical technique, clinical outcomes, and complications associated with the Kyon total medial elbow replacement system in dogs with end-stage medial compartment disease. The system replaces only the medial portion of the elbow joint, preserving the lateral compartment and providing a less invasive alternative to total elbow arthroplasty. A prospective trial involving 12 dogs (14 elbows) demonstrated encouraging improvements in lameness scores with minimal complications. Surgical technique, implant design, patient selection, and postoperative management will be discussed, along with insights into the use of patient-specific jigs to improve accuracy and efficiency.
