Assistant Professor of Surgical Oncology Colorado State University, Flint Animal Cancer Center
This lecture shares key insights and lessons learned from completing dual ACVS fellowships in Surgical Oncology and Minimally Invasive Surgery. Through a comparative lens, this lecture explores differences in fellowship structure as well as unique aspects of training focus and philosophies. The discussion highlights the synergies between these complementary disciplines and how this hybrid training has refined clinical decision-making, expanded interdisciplinary collaboration, and supported research efforts at the intersection of these fields in an effort to optimize both patient-centered and oncologic outcomes. This lecture also discusses an approach to integrating these skillsets into a cohesive clinical practice, with emphasis on case strategy, ongoing research, and mentorship in a multidisciplinary oncology setting.
