Dr. Reesink received her VMD (2007) from the University of Pennsylvania, followed by an internship (2008) at UPenn’s New Bolton Center and a residency (2011) in Large Animal Surgery at Cornell University. Dr. Reesink became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (Large Animal) in 2012. She received a PhD (2016) in Comparative Biomedical Sciences from Cornell University and served on the faculty at Cornell as Assistant Professor (2016-2022) and Associate Professor (2022-2025). Dr. Reesink joined the faculty at the University of California, Davis in March 2025 as Professor of Veterinary Orthopedics.
Dr. Reesink’s research focuses on the pathophysiology and treatment of musculoskeletal disease, including osteoarthritis, tendinopathy, and fracture. Dr. Reesink’s lab seeks to advance ‘One Health’ therapeutic design and interventional strategies aimed at restoring joint and tendon health, improving patient comfort, and prolonging longevity and patient mobility for both veterinary and human patients.
She has authored several scientific papers and book chapters on topics related to joint disease, tendon injury and fracture, and has served on the research advisory boards of several veterinary and equine health organizations, including the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation, and the Hong Kong Jockey Club Equine Welfare Research Foundation.
