AO Research Institute
Davos Platz, Graubunden, Switzerland
Dr. Zindl graduated as a veterinarian in 2000 from the Tieraerztliche Hochschule Hannover, Germany and went on to get a master’s in Mexican Wolf reproduction in cooperation with the St. Louis Zoo, Missouri. She worked for 4 years in a practice specialized in pig farm management and then switched to small animal medicine. In 2012 she ventured to the UK to do a surgical internship at Fitzpatrick Referrals and since then has been focusing on her passion for small animal orthopedics and neurosurgery. After a 2-year stint as a research fellow at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine (2013-2015) she went back to the UK to start a PhD in Biomechanics of the Canine Elbow at the University of Cambridge, UK which she abandoned for a residency in small animal surgery at the Queen’s Veterinary School Hospital in Cambridge, UK. While pursuing her own research in hip navigation during her residency together with Dr. Matthew Allen, she started a business of scientific writing in 2020, supporting interns and residents in their pursuit of scientific publishing. Missing clinical work, she worked as a surgery clinician from 2022–23 in a large private practice in Ireland before moving to Switzerland where she worked as a junior project leader and veterinary surgeon managing translational in vivo studies at the preclinical facility of the AO Research Institute Davos. Since June 2025, Dr. Zindl works self-employed with her own company supporting interns and residents in scientific writing and offering project management in a clinical setting to perform prospective clinical studies in small animal orthopedics.
