Animal Specialty and Emergency Center of Brevard

Megan Richie graduated from Eastern Florida State College in 2005 with an A.S. degree in Veterinary Technology. Looking to match her own ambitious standards as a Certified Veterinary Technician, Megan began working in the surgery department of a small animal veterinary specialty practice where she has continued to grow in her career today. Shortly after taking on her position, Megan was promoted to Lead Surgical Technician and Team Leader. Aiming to achieve credentials as a Veterinary Technician Specialist, Megan took on the challenge of applying to the Academy of Veterinary Surgical Technicians during the inaugural year.
After becoming an elite member of the AVST in 2012, Megan continued to show commitment to veterinary surgery in many ways. She served on the AVST's Executive Board, took part as a member of the Credentialing and Recertification Committees, and is now the chair member of the Elections Committee. Megan continues to demonstrate leadership in the veterinary community through her daily work with other veterinary professionals and by providing continuing education to veterinary technician students. Megan's greatest sense of accomplishment comes from upholding growing standards in veterinary medicine by teaching others while continuing to learn herself. She strives to be a positive example for technicians to get involved in their field and thrive in their careers.
Megan lives in Central Florida with her husband Jake and their two basset hounds, Lotus and Po. As a family, they love to explore the great outdoors by camping, kayaking, and hiking. Megan also enjoys fitness, sewing, and board games.
