Dr. Bloom graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology and a minor in music. Prior to medical school, he studied the neurophysiology of breathing at the Center for Integrative Brain Research in the Ramirez lab. He then earned his MD degree at Albany Medical College, where he was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. He joins the UW faculty after completing his Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery residency at Boston Medical Center, completing rotations at the Boston Children's Hospital, the Boston Veteran Affairs Hospital, and the Harvard Medical School affiliate, Lahey Hospital.
Dr. Bloom’s clinical interests include chronic salivary infections and sialadenitis, chronic ear disease, nasal and sinus surgery, medical management of environmental allergies, surgical treatment of sleep apnea and surgical management of thyroid and salivary gland tumors. He has a research interest in prevention of HPV-mediated head and neck tumors.
