Marije Risselada, DVM, PhD, DECVS, DACVS (Small Animal) (she/her/hers)

Associate Professor Small Animal Soft Tissue Surgery
Purdue University, Indiana

Dr. Risselada is board certified in both the European College of Veterinary Surgeons (2005) and the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (2012). She has previously worked as a soft tissue surgeon at the University of Florida (2007-2011) and North Carolina State University (2011-2017). She serves as an associate editor for Veterinary Surgery, and was recently appointed Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Small Animal Practice after serving several years as Associate Editor. She authored an atlas of surgical approaches in soft tissue and oncologic surgery. She has extensive experience in reconstructive surgery, cardiopulmonary surgery, general soft tissue surgery (such as biliary, urinary, intestinal surgery, portosystemic shunts, herniorrhaphies, head & neck surgeries), and oncologic surgery (such as maxillofacial oncologic surgery, hepatic, skin, pulmonary and endocrine neoplasia). Her research interests include novel drug delivery strategies in wound management and oncologic surgery.
