Cherie Ouellet, BASc, RVT, VTS (Surgery) is a veterinary technician leader with over 20 years of experience in specialty medicine, with expertise in surgery, education, and mentorship. She began her career in Houston, Texas, after earning her AAS from Tomball College, followed by a BASc in Veterinary Technology from Tarleton State University in 2024. In 2017, she earned her Veterinary Technician Specialty (VTS) in Surgery.
Cherie spent 22 years at a large veterinary specialty hospital in Houston, Texas, leading surgical teams, supporting clinical trials, and developing technician training programs. She later helped launch an orthopedic surgical start-up before relocating to Colorado, where she now serves as the Veterinary Technician Manager at Colorado State University’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital. In this role, she mentors technicians across multiple specialty services.
Cherie currently serves as the NAVTA VTS Liaison for the Academy of Veterinary Surgical Technicians. She is passionate about technician development, surgical excellence, and fostering a positive workplace culture. She recently began a Master’s in Education in Organizational Learning, Performance, and Change at CSU.
