Dr. Lu studied veterinary medicine and completed a 3-year Master of Veterinary Medicine at the National Taiwan University in Taipei, Taiwan, with a focus on canine stifle kinematcis. He was the International Surgical Training Scholar at Michigan State University. He continued his training with a rotating internship at the Wester College of Veterinary Medicine, followed by a small animal surgery residency combined with a Master of Comparative Health Sciences focused on meniscal tissue engineering at Oregon State University. Dr. Lu became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2024. He then completed a Fellowship in Joint Replacement Surgery (2023-2025), and is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of California, Davis.
Dr. Lu’s research aims to advance musculoskeletal care in companion animals and humans through interdisciplinary collaboration. He uses computer-aided design software for patient-specific surgical planning and to analyze joint motion, bone geometry, and bone density, with the goal of addressing current clinical limitations. His interests also include gait analysis and tissue engineering.
