Surgical Intern
Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine
Ames, Iowa
My name is Kirsten Rico and I am currently a surgical intern at Iowa State University. I went to Purdue University for my undergraduate studies where I graduated with a major in biology and a minor in anthropology, went to Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine where I became a part of the Phi Zeta Research Community, presented at the Summer Scholars research conference for a project in the pathobiological sciences department and won an award for my category. At LSU, I was inducted into the honors association as well. I graduated from LSU in 2024 and went on to complete my rotating internship at Tufts University where I completed this project. I am currently doing a research study at ISU involving Tibial Tuberosity Transposition and have interest in future research involving feline orthopefic procedures. Personally, I love to workout, bake, spend time with my fiance, family and animals. Fun fact- I will run my first marathon on 10/19 of this year!
