Surgical treatment of mitral valve disease has shown dramatic changes over the past few years. This seminar provides the latest information, including experience from the youngest programs, the more experienced programs, and the high-volume centers. Additionally, a less invasive mitral valve repair with a transcatheter approach is compared to open heart surgery, providing insight into the advantages and disadvantages of each procedure.
