Dr. Massimo Petazzoni graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Milan in 1997 and is Chief of the Orthopedic Department at Clinica Veterinaria Milano Sud with a career dedicated to advancing surgical techniques and improving patient outcomes.
He is had been Ambassador Member of AOVET. He is an active member of SCIVAC, ESVOT, SIOVET, and AVORE. Over his career, he has delivered more than 500 scientific lectures worldwide, including invited presentations at ACVS, ECVS, ESVOT, VOS, BVOA, BAVOT, SCIVAC, SIOVET and other international congresses. He has authored over 35 scientific publications and several book chapters, including contributions to the Clinical Veterinary Advisor: Dogs and Cats and two atlases: the Atlas of Clinical Goniometry and the Atlas BOA, Breed Orthopaedic Oriented Approach.
Dr. Petazzoni is one of the developers of the Fixin internal fixation system and developed the Tibial Tuberosity Transposition Tool (TTTT2), innovations that have become widely adopted and recognized as standards in veterinary orthopedics. His pioneering work also includes the development of external fixation amputee prostheses.
He has served as Secretary of the Italian Society of Veterinary Orthopedics and Traumatology (SIOVET) and continues to mentor colleagues internationally, emphasizing diagnostic logic, intellectual honesty, and putting animal welfare first.
Dr. Petazzoni is passionate about teaching, leading workshops and advanced courses on corrective osteotomies, patella luxation, arthroscopy, and prosthetic surgery. He plays chess.
