Dr. Fransson has been practicing small animal minimally invasive surgery (MIS) at Washington State University since 2006. Since then, the WSU-MIS research group has worked towards making laparoscopic simulation training available to veterinary surgeons. The veterinary assessment of laparoscopic skills (VALS), a training program and a certifying skills test, was developed based on this body of research. Dr. Fransson's clinical interests include laparoscopic suturing, chylothorax treatment, and gasless laparoscopy in addition to all sorts of MIS and interventional procedures. Dr. Fransson is past president of the Veterinary Endoscopy Society (2011-2013) and the Society of Veterinary Soft Tissue Surgeons (2013-2015). She received status as ACVS Founding Fellow in Minimally Invasive Surgery 2017.
